Pics of this weekends NBA-ABA throwbacks
We had three ABA retro uniform matchups in the NBA this past Saturday with the Nuggets taking on the Pacers, the Spurs facing the Nets and Charlotte playing host to the LA Clippers.
Let’s take a look at some photos from the games…
Charlotte Bobcats (Carolina Cougars 1970) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (Los Angeles Stars 1969):

San Antonio Spurs (Texas Chaparrals 1971) vs. New Jersey Nets (New York Nets 1973)

Indiana Pacers (1972) vs Denver Nuggets (1976)

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 09:49Those Pacers. Clippers/Stars and Spurs/Chaps jerseys have that vintage cool look. The Nuggets logo looks like the clutter on my desk. And the Nets really can't wait to be in New York. I wouldn't be surprised if they wore that jersey every day.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 11:11I love when NBA teams wear ABA uniforms to honour their past. As mentioned before, the Charlotte Bobcats name isn't bad. However I think if they wanted to really honour their ABA bretheren, Carolina or Charlotte Cougars would have sounded a lot better. With a slightly modified uniform/logo scheme.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 17:38@ Anthony Perhaps when the NHL renews its CBA, that might not be a bad idea.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 20:54@Anthony That would be an awesome idea for the NHL to do a WHA night Florida Panthers- Miami Screaming Eagles Winnipeg Jets (2)- Winnipeg Jets (1, have them play the Coyotes) LA Kings- LA Sharks (have them play the SJ Sharks lol) Phoenix Coyotes- Phoenix Roadrunners Ottawa Senators- Ottawa Civics and/or Nationals Minnesota Wild- Minnesota Fighting Saints Chicago Blackhawks- Chicago Cougars (have Red Wings as the Detroit Cougars) Calgary Flames- Calgary Cowboys Washington Capitals (Baltimore Blades) Columbus Blue Jackets- Cleveland Crusaders and/or Cincinnati Stingers Colorado Avalanche- Denver Spurs Detroit Red Wings- Michigan Stags NJ Devils- NJ Knights Toronto Maple Leafs- Toronto Toros NY Islanders or Rangers- NY Raiders Philadelphia Flyers or Vancouver Canucks- Philadelphia or Vancouver Blazers

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 20:58Bet Reebok and the NHL would love those merchandise dollars
Aaron
Monday, February 13, 2012 at 21:07A few other ideas... Carolina Hurricanes-Hartford Whalers (perhaps have them play Boston) as the New England Whalers Quebec Nordiques (when they return) have them play Colorado. Houston (insert nickname)-Houston Aeros perhaps have them play Dallas. Edmonton Oilers-Alberta Oilers
Aaron
Monday, February 13, 2012 at 21:28In fact, to make it real WHA like, have the Hurricanes/Whalers play one home game in Springfield and one in Hartford.

Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 09:54There is no way in hell the Wings would don Stags sweaters. NO. WAY.
cody
Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 16:02@fjojr the red wings would be the Michigan Stags.
