I've always been surprised to see how much love there was for the red Patriots unis. I'm not a fan of the logo, but on top of that, a Revolutionary War-themed team should NEVER wear red--I shouldn't even have to explain why.
Also, to those who would like to see the Patriots restore the "Boston" name, it's likely not going to happen. They play their home games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, which is some 40 miles southwest of Boston. It's actually closer to Providence than Boston. The Patriots became "New England" in 1972, because even when they were known as "Boston," they never had a permanent stadium and played in various stadiums in and around Boston.
I think one of the reasons the Patriots retired this logo after the 1992 season is because it's a bit busy upon a helmet. Also, most NFL logos tend to face to the right to convey a sense of motion. This logo simply faces forward, creating sort of a "static" effect. Finally, this kind of a logo is just too detailed to accurately reproduce on millions of authentic merchandise, where the logo would have to be re-sized countless times. Maybe the "flying Elvis" isn't quite as interesting, but it's a much simpler logo that represents the franchise just as much as this logo ever did.
i love this logo it's so much than the other one
Go back to it! Awesome logo, way better than the new one. Like the red uniforms, too.
