The Memphis Mad Dogs were an expansion team for the 1995 Canadian Football League season and were part of the final wave of CFL expansion into the United States that took place in the early-to-mid 1990s.

In 1993 Fred Smith joined up with several Memphis-area entities including the estate of Elvis Presley to lure a National Football League expansion franchise to Tennessee, the team would be known as the Memphis Hound Dogs playing off of the association with Presley. When the NFL decided to expand to Carolina and Jacksonville instead of Memphis, Smith turned to the CFL who were adding two new teams for the 1995 season. Joining the league along with the Birmingham Barracudas, Smith changed the name from "Hound Dogs" to "Mad Dogs" with the Elvis Presley estate now no longer a part of the ownership group.

Due to low attendance and financial woes the Memphis Mad Dogs dropped out of the CFL after their one and only season finishing with a lifetime record of 9 wins, 9 losses. Every other American-based CFL club either relocated to Canada or also folded after this 1995 season.
