Iceland Logos History

The Icelandic national football team (Íslenska karlalandsliðið í knattspyrnu), nicknamed Our Boys (Strákarnir okkar) played its first international game in 1930 before joining FIFA in 1947 and finally UEFA in 1957. Despite a population of just over 350,000 the national team has seen some success on the international stage, notably in Euro 2016 when they defeated the Netherlands on their way to the knockout stage where they defeated England. Iceland also became the smallest nation by population to qualify for the World Cup when they did so in 2018.
