More Information on This Logo

Eddie Mathews (1931-2001) was a hall of fame third baseman (inducted in 1978) who spent the first 15 seasons of his career with the Braves franchise from 1952 through 1966. Mathews is also noteable as being the only player to play for the Braves during their days in Boston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta. Mathews made the NL All-Star team 12 times and won a World Series with the Milwaukee Braves in 1957. After his playing days Mathews managed the Atlanta Braves from 1972-1974. His number 41 was retired by the Atlanta Braves following his death in 2001.
