Colorado Buffaloes Logo

Alternate Logo (1979-1980)

What is this Colorado Buffaloes Logo?

A futuristic buffalo design in black used sparingly in football for the 1979 and 1980 seasons, commissioned (at a cost of $1,600) by football coach Chuck Fairbanks who liked the Seattle Seahawks helmet logo. At this time, it brought the total to six different logos/symbols, facing in different directions, in use by various departments and sports. Not the official version.
