What is this New York Yankees Cap?

The New York Yankees first cap (with that name) was all in black with the soon-to-be-iconic interlocking NY logo on the crown in white. The Yankees would use this cap and colour scheme for just two seasons before switching to the dark midnight navy blue that they would go on to keep forever.
