More Information on This Logo

Lew Burdette (1926-2007) was a starting pitcher who pitched for several teams but spent the bulk of his career with the Boston/Milwaukee Braves, pitching for the Braves franchise for 13 seasons from 1951 through 1963. Burdette made the NL All-Star team twice (1957, 1959), led the NL in wins (1959), and finished third in NL Cy Young voting (1958) during his time with the Braves.

Johnny Sain (1917-2006) was a starting pitcher with the Boston Braves from 1942 to 1951, he was also later a coach with the Atlanta Braves in 1977 and again from 1985-1986. Sain was a two-time NL All-Star (1947, 1948) while with the Braves and is famous for his tandem with Warren Spahn, inspiring the poem "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain" in 1948.
