What is this New Jersey Devils Logo?

This was an unused prototype logo, which was created by the team owner John McMullen's wife, which was then modified by a professional graphic design and marketing firm hired by John McMullen. The result of that logo modification is the logo that has been used since the launch of New Jersey Devils brand back in the summer of 1982.
