The Kia Tigers KIA 타이거즈 마크 play in the City of Gwangju and were originally established in 1982, the KBO League's inaugural season, as the Haitai Tigers before changing their name in 2002. The Tigers have won eleven Korean Series championships with nine of those coming during a wildly successful 14-year span between 1983 and 1997. The team is owned by the Kia Motors Corporation headquartered in Seoul.
