HC Spartak Moscow (ХК Спартак Москва) play at the VTB Ice Palace in Moscow, Russia. Originally joining the KHL in 2008-09, the team did not play during the 2014-15 season and re-joined the KHL just one year later in 2015-16. The team was established in 1946 and played in the various levels of the Soviet and Russian Leagues from 1946-2008. The club has several different English-language nicknames including the Gladiators, Red & Whites, The Meat, and The People's Team
