El Paso Chihuahuas Logos History

The El Paso Chihuahuas were introduced to the world on October 22, 2013 following a name-the-team contest which involved fan submissions. Five finalists were announced: the Aardvarks, Buckaroos, Chihuahuas, Desert Gators, and Sun Dogs. A few days before the unveiling, a graphic showing only the eyes of the eventual logo was released as a teaser and was featured on billboards throughout the El Paso area.

The name Chihuahuas was said to be chosen "first and foremost to appeal to kids and families", and "primarily to represent El Paso's spirit and fiercely-loyal community". The name also makes note of El Paso's location within the Chihuahuan Desert. The initial team logos were designed by Brandiose.
