What's the story of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies name and logos?

Binghamton, New York, known as the Carousel Capital of the World, inspired the unique name and branding of its local Double-A baseball team, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. With a rich history of economic success and a cherished collection of antique merry-go-rounds, Binghamton sought to create a team identity that resonated with the community. In 2017, after a name-the-team contest, the Rumble Ponies emerged, paying homage to the city's beloved rides. The name, submitted by a local fan, reflects personal and communal memories tied to these historic attractions. The rebranding aimed to rejuvenate local interest and connect more deeply with the community.

Previously known as the Binghamton Mets, the team rebranded under the new ownership of Evans Street Baseball to break away from the parent club’s identity and create a distinct local brand. The team's new look, crafted by Brandiose, features a fierce, battle-ready carousel horse with a flame-like mane, symbolising the city's robust spirit. The vibrant colours and dynamic logos have sparked widespread interest, selling out merchandise quickly and garnering attention nationwide. The Rumble Ponies play at Mirabito Stadium, continuing the tradition of baseball in Binghamton with a fresh, community-centric approach that emphasises entertainment and local heritage.
