Lipscomb Bisons Logos History

When it came time for Lipscomb basketball coach Robert Alexander to pick out the first-ever athletic uniforms for the school in 1931 he and team captain Jack Draper noticed a jacket with a buffalo on the back hanging in a store in Nashville. While Draper suggested the team adopt the name 'Thundering Herd' with the bison serving as the school mascot, Alexander instead preferred the shorter Bisons name and it has been used by Lipscomb ever since.
