What is the Charlotte 49ers Logo?

Miner & 49ERS logo introduced in about 1968 or slightly sooner. He is seen with his hat pinned back, a pipe in mouth & tongue sticking out, holding a pickaxe above 49ERS text. The 49ers nickname wasn`t officially adopted until 1961. During its early years, the school`s nickname was the Owls because the institution operated primarily at night. However, the rapid evolution from a night school to a more traditional college prompted the student body to reevaluate the name and the school colors. In 1961, following a student vote, the 49ers nickname was officially adopted with light blue and white replacing maroon and gray as school colors. Not the official version.
