Anniversary Logo (2024)

What is this Cincinnati Bearcats Logo?

Cincinnati Athletics commemorated the 100-year anniversary of the dedication of Nippert Stadium during the entire 2024 football season, celebrating the life of stadium namesake Jimmy Nippert as the Bearcats` season-long theme. As for the logo, it includes many tidbits. At the top is for honoring the full name of the home of the Cincinnati Bearcats, commonly referred to as Nippert Stadium. The diamond shapes outside the name are common architectural details present within window arches on Dieterle Vocal Arts Center. The overall shape is a simple representation of Nippert Stadium from vintage seating maps. At the center is the translation of iconic Jimmy Nippert from a 1923 image. He resides on top of a bold 100 and between 1924 (the stadium dedication year) and 2024. At the very bottom is the University of Cincinnati crest present on Dieterle Vocal Arts Center, formerly Schmidlapp Gymnasium, since 1910. Its position in the logo signifies its physical location, as well as the location of Jimmy`s Memorial. The cream color is representative of old, worn paper color tone of early 1920s Nippert archives and photos with red & black, current athletic colors.

More Information on This Logo

Nippert was a center and captain on the 1923 football team when he sustained an injury on Thanksgiving Day against rival Miami (OH). He fell ill with blood poisoning and died on Christmas Day. Nippert`s grandfather––James N. Gamble, son of the Procter & Gamble co-founder––donated $250,000 for the completion of the stadium.
