Arched & beveled MIAMI above UNIVERSITY above full-bodied redhawk with silver beak clutching a ribbon with stylized REDHAWKS type with a brick arch in the background, all in red, silver, black, and white. Starting in 1996, the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma (formerly of Ohio) stated their disapproval of the Redskins nickname. The school followed by adopting the Redhawks nickname starting with the 1997-98 season.
