St. Johns Red Storm Logo

Secondary Logo (1994-2003)

What is this St. Johns Red Storm Logo?

Prior to the 1994–95 school year, the universitys nickname was the St. Johns Redmen, which referenced the red uniforms worn by its teams in competition. The name was interpreted as a Native American reference in the 1960s, and the university did have a mascot, which eventually led to the teams name change to the Red Storm. With the nickname change came a new athletics brand featuring red, blue, & yellow combined with a horse & lightning bolt motifs. This new secondary features the Red Storm & bolt wordmark on a triangle with New York Citys skyline above the full school name.
