Known as the Kachina Coyotes logo, the Phoenix Coyotes used this logo from their first season in Arizona in 1996-97 through 2002-03. The logo shows a coyote in the style of a kachina doll, wearing half a mask, holding a hockey stick, and a crescent moon on its chest. This version of the logo, shown here without the team name, was adopted as the Coyotes official primary logo for the start of the 1999-2000 NHL season.
