Primary Logo (1994-2003)

What is the St. Johns Red Storm Logo?

Prior to the 1994–95 school year, the universitys nickname was the St. Johns Redmen, which referenced the red uniforms worn by its teams in competition. The name was interpreted as a Native American reference in the 1960s, and the university did have a mascot, which eventually led to the teams name change to the Red Storm. With the nickname change came a new athletics brand featuring red, blue, & yellow combined with a horse & lightning bolt motifs. The new Primary features the full school name with Red Storm, clouds & a bolt, and New York Citys skyline on a roundel.
