Auburn Tigers Logo

Secondary Logo (1976-1980)

What is this Auburn Tigers Logo?

Eagle logo in blue with orange outline, dubbed the Weagle or Double Eagle. That design was created in 1976 by Randy Brown. He was a member of the band and studied art. This was his senior project. He wanted to create a secondary logo that could be used for the football team. Doug Barfield took over from Shug Jordan after the 1975 season. Randy took his idea to Doug. Doug wanted to start using award decals. He took the Weagle from Randy and used it the rest of his tenure as decals on the back of their football helmets. Can also be found on publications in all orange or blue.
