The Oakland Seals changed their name to the Bay Area Seals in order to be more inclusive of the entire Bay Area for the 1970-71 season. Within two weeks, however the name had been changed to the California Golden Seals. The Bay Area Seals played two games in October 1970 before the change to Golden Seals.
