Primary logo of the SWAC featuring the SWAC Star design at the center atop the shape shapes of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama -each with dots locating its member institutions. Above the states the is The Super Eight motto surrounded by arched Southwestern Athletic Conference in black. All of that is on a red oval with the border labeled by each of the eight-member institution short names & with team colors. Alabama State would join in 1982 prompting an update to the previous logo. Last year of use may differ as University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff re-joined back to the SWAC as an affiliate member in 1997 and Alabama A&M joined as a full member in 1999.
