New York Yankees Logo

Primary Logo (1913-1914)

What is the New York Yankees Logo?

In their first seasons as the New York Yankees, the club carried over the interlocking NY design from the Highlanders but changed the colour from midnight navy blue to black. The Yankees only used this logo for two seasons before permanently switching back to the midnight navy blue. Originally designed by Tiffany & Co., the interlocking NY logo first appeared on a medal of valour. This medal was awarded in 1877 to John McDowell, a New York City police officer who was shot while performing his duties.
