The New York Yankees logo of the 1930s and 1940s. In 1936, the Yankees slightly tweaked their famous interlocking NY logo, making the letters thicker and bringing them closer together. Originally designed by Tiffany & Co., the interlocking NY logo first appeared on a medal of valour. This medal was awarded in 1877 to John McDowell, a New York City police officer who was shot while performing his duties.
