The Los Angeles Lakers logo of the early 1970s was a modification of the previous design. The LAKERS wordmark remained across the front of a gold basketball, but colours were lightened to match better the team uniforms of Forum Blue (purple) and gold. The Lakers would update their shade of purple again after the 1974-75 season.
